Wild at heart cast 19901/7/2024 Only in Express | Senna Hegde: ‘Padmini is a very simple film that audiences would love seeing Kunchacko Boban in’ CID Moosa Instead, Gajakesariyogam beautifully delves into the relationship between the family and the elephant, illustrating their efforts to utilise the tusker as their only hope for repaying the substantial debt. Throughout the film, Nair’s endeavours include attempting to employ the elephant at a wood mill and initiating a circus show, but the movie skillfully avoids reducing the animal to a mere means for the family’s financial gain. Unfortunately, the family faces the heartbreaking situation of the authorities seizing the beloved animal when they fail to repay the loan. Nair then decides to showcase Sreevidya in a circus show, hoping to earn money and repay the loan. Though Nair and his family hire a tutor to teach them Hindi, Sreevidya struggles to comprehend their instructions as it only knows to perform tricks since the elephant previously lived in a circus camp. However, complications arise as Sreevidya only understands Hindi. Starring Innocent, KPAC Lalitha, Mukesh and Sunita in leading roles, the film tells the story of Ayyappan Nair, an elephant lover and mahout, who takes a loan to purchase a tusker named Sreevidya. Gajakesariyogam (1990), directed by PG Viswambharan, stands out as a heartwarming Malayalam film that revolves around an endearing animal and its bond with the family that adopted it.
